A sleek contemporary kitchen for a Ribble Valley home

Step forward Kitchen Design Centre and Blackburn Showroom Manager Will Huster who took on board exactly what Lana wanted and not only designed a stunning, functional space but handled everything from design to installation.

Initially Lana approached another company but felt they didn’t listen to what she wanted unlike Will who incorporated everything on her wish list from lots of storage to a special dog bed! Most importantly, Will took in to account future project plans for an enlarged family room extension from the kitchen and designed the kitchen with this in mind. It determined the length of the breakfast bar and the space left for a dining table.

Will proposed opening up the space and removing a door to create one large open plan area. Lana’s husband liaised with him on the design for the drinks area and they selected colours by looking at various grey options Will presented on the CAD design programme. Steel dark units were selected throughout the kitchen with Quartz worktops in Attico white. They found Will’s creative input invaluable; he suggested removing an old bulkhead, inserting black strips on the tall units and framing them with Ontario Oak to tie in with the breakfast bar and soften the overall look.

Appliances were important to the couple and they selected Neff throughout. Central to the island design was the brand new Neff Downdraft Hob in black and clear glass which not only looks fantastic but Lana has found it to be invaluable whilst cooking as it swiftly extracts all smells and moisture and disappears in to the island after use.

As a keen cook Lana wanted three ovens, opting for two Neff Slide and Hide and the Neff Compact Oven with Microwave. A separate Liebherr fridge and freezer were also chosen together with a Blanco sink and the Quooker Pro3 Flex and Cube.

The kitchen was fitted whilst the couple were at their second home in France and despite being hundreds of miles away, Lana was blown away with how smoothly the installation went and how fantastic Nigel the builder and the fitters were. She was constantly updated with photo’s and phone calls and felt completely at ease.
